Today was day one of the start of renovations for the top house.

And I can't believe how much Michael and Joe achieved in one day. Pulling out walls and pulling down ceilings proved much easier than expected.

So what I'll do instead of sharing all the photos I took today, I'll show each stage, keep it simple I reckon.

So here are the before photos...by the way, all photos taken with a wide angle lens which can make a space look bigger, although it is a big area

View from the kitchen towards the dining space

View from dining towards the lounge

Wall to be removed

From dining area to kitchen

Kitchen s being removed

Lounge again, showing ceiling with the ghastly tiles to come down

Lounge towards kitchen, which is behind the wall, which is coming out

Lounge, wall for removal, rather nice bay window

From the bay window looking to dining area, plus wall which has bedroom 3 behind it

Wall for removal, we're losing a bedroom to create  bigger open, living space

And work begins..

3rd bedroom, once wall is out it will become the new kitchen

3rd bedroom

Bedroom 2, ceiling is coming down in here

Laundry, all being removed and relocated to the garage. By removing this means we add length to the living space

After a day of hard graft, it now looks like this
View from the bay window, the wall of the 3rd bedroom is gone which creates space for the new kitchen

From the lounge looking to old kitchen, wall removed, the bricks surrounding the pot belly will be removed tomorrow. TV will go on the far wall

From the far corner of the lounge looking diagonally across to the dining area, walls removed

Fireplace still to come out, such a lovely space and a blank canvas

Far corner of old kitchen, looking towards new kitchen space

View from bathroom/hallway end looking back into the living space
From French doors in between old kitchen and dining

New Kitchen space

View from ranch slider to French doors

Bedroom 2, ceiling down

And that is day one, a superb effort from the Webber chaps

Still crafting

Over on the old Blog I often shared the things I make, this blogs will be no different.
In January of 2024 I started a Grandmothers garden hexagon quilt, lots of flowers made up of hexies. I wasn't able to finish it by the end of the year as hoped, but as there is no rush that doesn't matter. I have two rows still to do.
Today I pulled out my boxes of fabrics and hopefully found enough to make up the remaining flowers,  the neutrals are already done

Over on Facebook I've set myself a couple of challenges for the year.
The first,  is to post one good thing every day, in a increasingly depressing and violent world this challenge is a positive I think. There is still joy and beauty in the world.
Day 1 Expresso Martinis
Day 2
After nearly 2 months I was able to drive the car again. I'd had cellulitis in my leg in November which took a while to heal, so I'm very happy to be mobile again.
Day 3 - today.
Cutting fabrics for the Grandmothers Garden quilt, see above.

The other challenge is inspired by this book which I have on order
The idea is to take a mindful moment in your day to stitch a memory from the day.
Day 1
Day 2
Day 3
So far the two challenges are the same, I'm sure that as I settle into the challenges that I'll be a little more imaginative 😆

These two make me laugh every day

And that's me for today
